Sonic The Hedgehog 1 Genesis Review
Sonic the Hedgehog created history in the Sega sonic games series. This game was the opening era of amazing feasts of games for the Sega Gaming Industry. The Genesis was the first platform from Sega, which supported this game. When it was first released in 1991, sonic the hedgehog created rifts between the game developers and put them on their toes to compete against the huge rival, now known as Sega. When this game was first released, it introduced the innovative use of elements around the character, such as the coins, blocks, pins, etc. The concept of gravity and it's effect on the character, i.e, sonic was implemented here.. Sonic added the factors important in today's games such as verticality, puzzles, elements and various bonus levels.
As time pushed further, Sega got sales high enough to give the people at Nintendo a run for their money. New sequels from Mario to get back at Sega started to fail miserably. The game started to gain momentum and came up like a phoenix. To differentiate from other games such as Mario, Scat, etc, Sonic had introduced a new Health system, which complicated games and made it real cool to play. Rather than just dying in one hit from the turtles in Mario. This made the gamer keep their hopes alive of winning the game rather than starting the game all over from the start again. The little Hedgehog spends much of his time collecting coins through each stage. These coins open bonus stages and add to your score total, but more importantly, they keep Sonic alive. When Sonic is hit -- either by an enemy or one of the numerous traps spread throughout the six environments -- he drops all the coins in his purse. Being hit when broke means death for Sonic, so like a miser, he must hold on tightly to his precious gold.
Now, most of the games had stories to follow the gameplay. Here, this game had a whopper of a story.. This game, is often known as the Moby Dick of game plots, Sonic the Hedgehog tells the plight of hundreds of forest animals forced to do evil deeds for Dr. Robotnik. Only Sonic can hope to free them by knocking them silly (that'll teach them to be prisoners of a mad scientist). The ultimate goal is to chase Dr. Robotnik through the various stages until cornered in his evil lair. There are no supporting characters -- no Tails, no Knuckles -- and no jaw-dropping plot twists. This is pure action.
